  • mainstream parties- those parties who have been prominent for over 100 years and seek to represent he whole of the UK
  • single issue party - a party whose main focus is on one particular policy area or cause.
  • regionalist/nationalist party - a party which seeks independence from another country or greater autonomy within it.
  • political spectrum is a left-right spectrum which is based on the belief and ideas of a party
  • left wing- favours greater government involvement and a regulated economy
  • right wing believe in a smaller role for the government and a less regulated economy
  • mainstream parties- conservatives, labour and liberal democrats
  • nationalist parties- SNP, plaid cymru, meybon kernow, british democratic party and English democrats
  • single issue parties- UKIP, green party, Christian democratic party
