Saxon to Norman

• Normans replaced Saxons in earldoms
• After the changes of 1066, only 2 out of 190 tenants in chief (Earls) were Saxon, and less than 5% of the land was held by Saxons
• 4000 Saxon Thegns were replaced with Norman knights
• The number of Cearls decreased
• Slavery did not exist in Norman England
