• The heart pumps blood through the aorta to the body
• The deoxygenated blood travels through the vena cava
• The heart pumps the blood through the pulmonary artery to the lungs
• In the lungs, the blood swaps carbon dioxide for oxygen
• The oxygenated blood is then pumped through the pulmonary vein back to the heart
• The heart then pumps the oxygenated blood back through the aorta, where the cycle restarts
