1905 - Army Mutinies

• May

  • The sailors at the Kronstadt naval base near St Petersburg rose up against their officers.
• June

  • The sailors on the Potemkin battleship which was based in the Black Sea, mutinied and seized control of their ship after protesting about the quality of meat.
• The Russian army remained largely loyal to the Tsar as there were many soldiers away still fighting the Japanese.

  • However, there were some small mutinies within army units.
