  • There were thousands of local disturbances in which peasants attacked, burned and seized the property of the landowning class.
  • Some of these localised peasant revolts grew into more widespread uprisings across whole regions.
    • The first of these was in the Kursk region in February but by April, most of the "Black Earth" regions of Russia were in revolt.
  • May
    • An attempt was made to set up an "All-Russian Peasant Union" was made at a congress in Moscow.
  • August
    • A more organised Peasants' Union was established which was heavily influenced by the ideas of the SRs.
