The members of the St Petersburg Soviet who were mostly Mensheviks with a few Bolsheviks and SRs alongside the SR leaders of the Union of Peasants were arrested.
As a last act of resistance, the Bolsheviks organised an armed uprising in Moscow in December but this was easily crushed by loyal troops with around 1,000 rebels killed.
The Union of the Russian People was a new political party formed in October 1905 by right-wing nationalist Russians who received backing from the Tsar and the government
The Union used the "Black Hundreds" who were violent, anti-Semitic thugs that attacked opponents of the Tsar.

The Black Hundreds murdered 500 Jews in a 3 day pogrom in Odessa.
They also attacked striking workers, rebellious peasants and protesting students.
