Extra chloroplasts so it can absorb most the light from the top
Spongy Mesophyll
Gas exchange and also has some chloroplasts-gaps between them to provide larger surface area for gas exchange
Lower Epidermis layer
Contains stomata and guard cells
Stomata
Where gas exchange tales place, opens during day, closes during night, evaporation of water takes place here and in most plants found in much greater concentration on the underside of the leaf to reduce water loss
Guard Cells
Absorbs and loses water to open and close the stomata to allow carbon dioxide to diffuse in and oxygen diffuses out-More water available it moves in causing tomato to open and be turgid,Less water available means less water movies in so it becomes flaccid and tomato closes so the plant stops being so dehydrated
Vascular Bundle
Contains xylem and phloem to transport substances to and from the leaf
