Strengths

• Good moral principles allowing some violence under controlled circumstances.
• Later additions have made JWT more useful eg. Comparitive Justice and Jus post bellum.
• Christian basis, allows religion to justify war when war goes against some principles eg. blessed are the peacemakers
• JWT is used for the advancement of good and the avoidance if evil, which is Aquinas' synderesis rule.
• It recognises the need to act to remedy injustice and opression
