    The rapid development of industry in Britain which occurred in the late 18th and 19th centuries, with the introduction of machinery. 
  • Before Industrialisation...
    • People depended on farming for their livelihood. 
    • They paid rent for a place to live and grow their own crops. 
    • These tenant farmers were also expected to work and harvest the fields of the landowners when needed.
    • They used old farming methods which were labour-intensive and time-consuming. 
    • During winter and poor harvests, they struggled to make ends meet.
