What is it?
The
rapid
development
of
industry
in
Britain
which
occurred
in the
late 18th
and
19th
centuries
, with the
introduction
of
machinery.
Before Industrialisation...
People depended
on
farming
for their
livelihood.
They
paid rent
for a
place
to live and
grow
their
own crops.
These
tenant farmers
were also
expected
to
work
and
harvest
the
fields
of the
landowners
when
needed.
They used
old farming methods
which were
labour-intensive
and
time-consuming.
During
winter
and
poor harvests
, they
struggled
to
make ends meet.
