Chalk which is a hard rock.

High-energy waves which caused the formation of Old Harry.
  • What is Old Harry Rocks an example of?
A stack, which over time will collapse to form a stump
  • What is Chesil Beach an example of?

  • On the Dorset coast, what landform is an example of an arch?
    Durdle Door
  • How is this arch formed?
. Large crack, opened up by hydraulic action
. The crack grows into a cave by hydraulic action and abrasion
    . The cave becomes larger
. The cave breaks through the headland forming a natural arch
  • How does longshore drift contribute to the development of Chesil Beach?
A variety of sediments are transported onto shingle beach by longshore currents
