  present=cloudy white

  absent=clear,colourless
• +ve lipids test = cloudy white
• -ve lipids= clear colourless
• +ve for starch= blue/ black
• -ve for starch = orange/ brown
• test for glucose

  add benedicts

  heat in water bath

  present=red/ orange /yellow

  absent= blue
• +ve for glucose = red/ orange / yellow
• -ve for glucose = blue
• +ve for protein = purple
• -ve for protein = blue
• proteins - made of amino acids, for growth + repair
• lipids - made of fatty acids + glycerol, provide energy
• carbohydrates - made of sugars (glucose), provide energy
