• waxy cuticle is transparent - lets light through
• epidermis cells are transparent - light let through
• flattened leaf shape - more surface area
• mesophyll cells are packed with chloroplasts for more photosynthesis
• xylem cells bring water for photosynthesis
• phloem removes sugars made in photosynhesis
• stomata allow CO2 into leaf and allow O2 out of leaf
• internal air spaces (in leaf) - increase surface area of diffusion of gasas
• most chloroplasts found in the palisade mesophyll cells on upper side of leaf
