  • PASS
    -also known as RECEPTION
    -first move or skill after receiving the ball
    -attempt to properly handle the ball
    -requires 2 techniques: Underarm & Overhead pass
  • Underarm pass/bump - type of pass technique in which he ball touches the inside part of the joined forearms
  • Overhead pass - type of pass technique in which the ball is handled with the fingertips
  • SET
    -the second contact
    -goal is to put the ball in the air
  • ATTACK
    -also known as SPIKE
    -the 3rd contact
    -handle the ball to land to the other side
  • 2 TYPES OF ATTACKS
    1. Bounce - a spike that directly hits the opposing team's floor untouched.
    2. Kill - a successful attack that cannot be defended by the opposing team.
  • BLOCK
    -action taken by the player standing near the net to stop/alter an opponent's attack
  • 2 TYPES OF BLOCK
    1. Offensive Block - aggressive block whose goal is to return the ball to the opposing team's court, making it touch the floor.
    2. Defensive/Soft Block - control or deflect the hard-driven ball upward for it to slow down

    -prevent the ball from touching one's court after a spike or attack
    -overhand dig and bump
  • SERVE
    -signal the start of the game
