    1. Triglycerides are hydrolysed into fatty acids and glycerol 
  • 2. Phosphorylation of glycerol is carried out using ATP and glycerol phosphate is formed 
    as a result, which can then enter the glycolysis pathway 
  • 3. The fatty acids are broken down into 2C molecules and enter the pathway at the acetyl CoA stage
  • 4. Triglycerides are energy rich (39kJg-1) compared to carbohydrates (16kJg-1)
