  • Measure from key areas such as solid frame rails, inner wheel houses, and body character lines
    1. Scribe lines in paintwork just above the rusted out area for reference points, then measure from those points
    2. Writing down many reference points will ensure the body is replaced to the correct points for it to look like "factory"
    3. Use height width and length measurements as much as possible
  • Once the panel is fitting correctly, start to fill in the gaps between the tack welds with more tack welds
    1. Keep moving around the panel to not create too much heat
    2. There should be a tack weld every 15mm-19mm ( 5/8'' - ¾''
    3. These areas can then be filled in with continuous weld if desired
    4. Quickly blow compressed air on each area, then move to another cold area on the panel and repeat
  • Any visible heat distortion should be addressed now
Repair with the Uni-spotter, body picks, or hammer and dolly
  • Some heat distortion will always occur with welding. It is up to the technician to evaluate how much, is too much
