Forces

Cards (30)

  • Force - is a push or pull acting on an object that changes the motion of the object
  • Contact Force - it is the direct contact between two objects, e.g Applied Forces, Friction.
  • Long Range Forces - Forces that can act over distances. E.g. Gravity, EMF.
  • Force - a push or pull that produces displacement
  • Displacement - a vector tat points from an objects initial position to its final position
  • equilibrium - no movement due to equal forces
  • Mass - amount of matter contained within an object
  • Weight - Force of gravity acting on the object
  • Moment - Result of force acting at a distance from the point of motion
  • 1st Law of Motion/Law of Inertia or Equilibrium - A body in motion will remain in motion at the same speed in a straight line, as the body at rest will remain at rest unless otherwise an external force acted on it.
  • 2nd Law of Motion/ Law of Acceleration - a Change in the acceleration of a body occurs in the same direction as the force that caused it, as the acceleration of a body is Proportionate to the magnitude of the Net forces acting on it and inversely proportionate to the mass of the Body.
  • 3rd Law of Motion/ Law of Action and Reaction - For every action there is an opposite and Equal force
  • Force Systems - Identification of all of the forces acting on an object
  • Linear Force System - all forces are in the same line
  • Parallel Force System - Two or more parallel forces acting on the same object but at some distance from each other.
  • Center of Gravity - Hypothetical Point at which all mass would appear to be concentrated
  • COG of Adult - 2 Inches Anterior to S2
  • COG of Pregnant: Anterior and superiorly
  • COG of an Infant - Xiphoid Process
  • Enumerate

    B) Basioccipital Bone
    C) T11
    D) Medial Head triceps
    E) Just above the elbow Joint
    F) Pronator Teres
    G) Axis 3rd MC
    H) Just above the knee Joint
    I) Adductor Brevis
    J) Popliteus
    K) 2nd MT
  • Line of Gravity/Weight Line - Line from the object's center of mass to the center of the earth.
  • Ground Reaction Force - Forces are applied to the ground by the foot and ground to the foot
  • Moment - Resultant force from the force application distant to the center of rotation
  • Tension - Aka Traction, Distraction forces, applied perpendicular to a surface or plane within an object
  • Compression - Approximation, applied Perpendicular to a surface or plane, with its direction of forces is towards one another,.
  • Shear - Applied parallel to a surface or plane within an object by moving one object along the surface of another
  • Friction - is a parallel contacting surface but opposite direction of shear
  • Torsion - It creates a rotation of a segment around its long axis, with involvements of Rotation or Twisting Forces
  • Bending - Parallel forces applied to unsegmented object that results in equilibrium, with its compression on Concave and Tension on Convex.
  • When bending force applied on unconstrained object - results translation or rotation
