Data- is a collection of facts, such as numbers, words, measurements, observations or even just descriptions of things.
TWO TYPES OF DATA
QUANTITATIVE DATA- deals with numbers and things you can measure objectively.
QUALITATIVE DATA- is defined as the data that approximates and characterizes.
METHODS OF GATHERING/COLLECTING DATA
Census- involves collecting data about every individual in the population
Sample- part of population to be studied
Written Questionnaire- list of questions to be answered by respondents by checking or by supplying written responses.
Interview- where answer is given verbally and the person who asks the question records the answer.
Log or Diary- recorded information at regular interval.
Observation- makes use of the different human senses in gathering information.
Experimentation- is usually conducted in laboratories where speciments are subjected to some aspects of control to find out cause and effect relationships.
