  • The ghosts main purpose in the novella is to spark scrooges redemption and change his arrogant and misanthropic ways.
  • Jacob Marley and the GOC yet to come both are presented as intimidating. This is because if they did not fright Scrooge his stubborn and arrogant personality would of easily dismissed their advice.
  • The GOC past and present are both very uplifting characters. This is to show Scrooge the true meanings of Christmas which are the thoughts of : Community, Good will and Charity.
