Trial and Punishment

• The conspirators were tortured to extract confessions. Guy Fawkes was put on the rack.
• He confessed twelve days after his arrest, on 17 November.
• Their trial began in January 1606 and found guilty of treason.
• They were sentenced to death by being hanged, drawn and quartered.
