The poem is from the point of view of Laura Beddows (The speaker) who is wife to EddieBeddows. Eddie Beddows is an ex soldier who fought in the Bosnian war during the 1990s and has suffered greatly both mentally and physically from the injuries he has sustained.
Throughout the poem Laura is trying to help her husband and help him heal for both his physical and mental scars.
