• OA Pathology:

  1. loss of proteoglycans, leading to increase of water content with the joint
  2. collagen fibres become disorganised, causing thinning of cartilage
  3. increase in osteoblastic activity, causing sclerosis
  4. weaker cartilage is laid
  5. decrease in joint space
