the halo effect is the idea that people who are judged to be more attractive are consistently rated as successful, kind and sociable when compared with unattractive people, (Dion et al. 1972.)
we essentially create a schema for more attractive people that assumes they have mostlypositivetraits - this would make them seem more attractive and a more appealing romantic partner.
therefore, if we perceive a person to be physically attractive, we may also think of them having good qualities, and become more interested in forming a relationship with them, and behave more positively towards them.
