Components of blood:

Plasma
is a liquid that carries the blood components. Including
urea
,
hormones
and
Co2.
Red Blood
cells carry oxygen from blood to
lungs.
Red bloods cells have a
biconcave
disk
shape (Large
surface
area).
No nucleus
(more room for
oxygen
).
Haemoglobin
(
red
colour).
White Blood
cells are apart of the
Immune system
and are the
bodys defence.
White
blood cells have a nucleus. They produce antitoxins,
antibodies
and
engulf
pathogens.
Platelets
is a small
fragment
of cells that form
blood
clots
on wounds. Clot dries and forms a
scab
and new skin.
When a white blood cell engulfs pathogens it is called
Phagocytosis
White blood cells release chemicals called
antibodies
to destroy
pathogens.
