  • Group - composed of of two or more persons w/each other and Interacting guided by a set of norms
  • Social Group - a collection of individuals who have relations with one another that make applice them werdependent to some significant degree.

  • Patrilineal Descent - it appliates a person w/ a group of relatives through his or her father's side
  • Matrilineal Descent - It affiliates a person w/ a group of relatives through his or her mother's side
  • Bilateral Descent - descent from both the father And the mother side
  • Marriage - socially approved sexual and economic union, usually between a man and a woman. It is a socially approved sexual union in that a married couple doesn't have to hide the sexual nature of their relationship.
  • Monogamy - it is a form of marriage in which one man carries one woman. It is the most common and acceptable form of marriage.
  • Polygamy - is a form of marriage in which one is entitled to marry many partners.
  • Polygyny - is a form of marriage in which one man marries more than one woman at a given time.
  • Sororal Polygyny - one man marrying at least two sisters at the same time.
  • Non-sororal polygyny - one man being married to at least two women who are not related to each other at the same time.
  • Polyandry - is a form of marriage in which one woman marries more than one man.
  • Fraternal Polyandry - when several brothers share the same wife.
  • Non-fraternal Polyandry - the husbands sharing a wife that is not related with each other.
  • Endogamy - It is a rule of marriage in which the life partners are to be selected within the group.
  • Exogamy - it is a rule of marriage in which an individual has to marry outside his own group. It prohibits marrying within the group.
  • Post-marital residency - it is a rule which specifies where a person resides after marriage.
  • Patrilocal Residence - married couples stays with or near the husband’s kin or relatives.
  • Matrilocal Residence - married couples stays with or near the wife’s kin or relatives.
  • Biolocal Residence - married couples stays with the husband’s or wife’s kin alternately.
