16 DIVISIONS

• 16 DIVISIONS - refers to the divisions of construction, as defined by the construction specifications institute (CSI)'s master format.
• 16 DIVISIONS - master format 1995 edition before November 2004, master format was composed of 16 primary divisions: there are now 50 divisions.

• MASONRY - division 4; materials and methods, masonry units, stone, refractories, masonry assemblies.
• METALS - division 5; materials and methods, structural metal framing, joists, decks, fabrications, ornamental metals, expansion control.
• WOOD AND PLASTICS - division 6; materials and methods, carpentry, finishing / architectural woodwork, structural plastics, plastic fabrication.
• MOISTURE & THERMAL PROTECTION - division 7; materials and methods, damp proofing and waterproofing, thermal projection, shingles, roof tiles, and roof coverings, roofing and sliding panels, membrane roofing, flashing and sheet metal, fire and smoke protection.
• DOORS AND WINDOWS - division 8; materials and methods, door and frames, specialty doors, entrance and storefronts, windows, skylight, glazing, curtain walls, hardware.
• FINISHES - division 9; materials and methods, supports assembly, plaster and gypsum board, tiles, terrazzo, ceiling, flooring, wall finishes, acoustical treatments, pain and coating.
