  • The most famous example of worker unrest came in the Lena Goldfields mine in 1912.
  • Miners went on strike after poor pay, long working hours and many accidents.
  • The Bolsheviks were involved in spreading the unrest.
  • The ringleaders were arrested and the miners decided the present a petition to the mine owners.
  • A large number of them approached the mine, were opened fire on and 500 miners were killed.
  • This led to sympathetic strikes across Siberia and then Russia as a whole.
    • In the next 2 years, 3 million workers were involved in strikes and Bolshevik influence grew.
