The most famous example of worker unrest came in the
Lena Goldfields mine
in 1912.
Miners went on strike after poor
pay
, long
working
hours and many
accidents.
The Bolsheviks were involved in spreading the
unrest.
The
ringleaders
were arrested and the
miners
decided the present a petition to the
mine owners.
A large number of them approached the mine, were opened fire on and
500
miners were killed.
This led to sympathetic strikes across
Siberia
and then
Russia
as a whole.
In the next
2
years,
3
million workers were involved in strikes and Bolshevik influence grew.
