  • right to life - services such as the NHS provide medication and treatments to preserve life. decisions to turn off life support can't be made by an individual practitioner.
  • right to respect, privacy and family life - care workers should avoid gossiping about service users and encourage them to live as independently as they can + have a family life.
  • right to liberty and security - an individual cannot be detained or deprived of their freedom unless they've committed a serious crime/have been assessed under the mental health act as a danger to themselves or others.
  • right to freedom from discrimination - people such as service users should not be discriminated against in care settings or the workplace. these rights are further supported by the 2010 equality act.
  • right to freedom of expression - individuals have their own opinions and should have the opportunity to express them. for example, choosing their care/treatment.
  • right to freedom of thought, conscience, and religion - each individual has a right to their own faith and beliefs which should be respected. for example, celebrating multiple religious festivals such as Diwali and Hanukkah in a nursery.
