Decree on
Peace
Called for an immediate
truce
in the war and
peace
with "no annexations or
indemnities
".
There was an
armistice
in November
1917
followed by
demobilisation.
Decree of Land
Gave peasants the right to seize
land
from the landlords without
compensation
and to
divide
it up as they wished.
Private ownership of land was abolished with it now belonging to the "
whole
people".
This was key to gaining peasant
support
and
weakening
the grip of the popular SRs in the countryside.
An 8 hour working day and
social
insurance was introduced for workers.
