DISORDERS

• Appendicitis - inflammation of the appendix requiring surgical removal
• Cholecystitis - inflammation of the gallbladder caused by gallstones made up of precipitated bile blocking the bile duct
• Cirrhosis - chronic inflammation of the liver caused by alcoholism, hepatitis, or malnutrition, resulting in degeneration of liver cells
• Colitis - acute or chronic inflammation of the colon
• Crohn's disease - autoimmune disorder producing chronic inflammation of the intestinal tract accompanied by diarrhea and malabsorption
• Diverticulosis - inflammation of the pouches in the walls of the colon
• Gastritis - inflammation of the stomach lining
• Gastroenteritis - inflammation of the stomach and intestinal tracts
• Hemorrhoids - enlargement of the veins in the anorectum
• Hernia - protrusion of an organ or structure through the wall of the body cavity in which it is contained
• Hepatitis - acute inflammation of the liver caused by exposure to toxins
• Pancreatitis - inflammation of the pancreas
• Peritonitis - inflammation of the lining of the abdominal cavity
• Ulcer - open lesion in the lining of the stomach caused by increased acid secretion or bacterial infection
