  • El Filibusterismo
    • Composed by National Artist Felipe Padilla de Leon in 1970 with libretto by Anthony Morli
    • An opera in three acts written in Tagalog about an unseen dark force, so powerful it controls even the character's trivial actions and choices leading to tragic endings
    • Tells us the continuing struggle of the Filipino to achieve freedom and emancipation from colonial rule reflecting the prevailing state of the government and society that has become corrupt and immoral in which a revolution is seen as the only solution for change

    • Based on "Ang Mga Kuwento ni Lola Basyang" by Severino Reyes and consists of three new stories "Ang Palasyo ng mga Duwende", "Labindalawang Masasayang Prinsesa" and "Anting Anting"
    • Lola Basyang's Character was closely similar to Mother Goose, the imaginary author of fairy tales and nursery rhymes
    • The name was inspired by a woman named Gervacia Guzman de Zamora who was known as "Tandang Basyang"

    A romantic fairytale that features a princess who marries for love
  • Ang Palasyo ng mga Duwende
    An adventure fantasy where good triumphs over evil
  • Anting-anting
    A horror story with "very light and comedic" horror parts about how an amulet can give someone special powers
  • Rama Hari
    • Based on the Indian epic, Ramayana, the two-act music, dance and drama is a story of courage, magic, and humor
    • The story revolves around Rama, the avatar-an incarnation of the Hindu God Vishnu, and his wife Sita. They are banished from their kingdom for 14 years, a plot by the mother of one of Rama's four brothers to keep him from becoming the next king
    • Reminds us of our Asian values and talents in the arts that is characteristic to Filipinos

    • Is a character that is unapologetic and uncompromising about herself and her choices

    • A musical based on the life of Katy delaCruz, "Queen of Philippine vaudeville and jazz"
    • Music was written by Ryan Cayabyab with the story and libretto by Jose Javier Reyes
    • Was the highest paid entertainer in the country who survived the Second World War
    • A two-act musical play that opens as Katy, already old, visits the theater where she used to perform in her heydays upon learning the it will be torn down
    • The aesthetic sensibilities reflect the play's by gone era not only through costumes, music and narrative but also in its highly mannered delivery
  • Magsimula Ka
    • The considered the longest running Filipino musical
    • Contains inspiring and positive message to the youth written by Nestor Torre and Gines Tan

  • Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA)

    • An organization of creative and critical artist-teach cultural workers committed to artistic excellence
    • Founded in 1967 by Cecile Guidote-Alvarez
    • Helped develop theater artists who also believe in empowering a citizenry through theater arts
    • In 1971, PETA was named the UNESCO-International Theater Institute Center in the Philippines
