Psychometrics are batteries of tests that help us to justify whether the findings are useful within research. Psychometrics include testing of validity and reliability.
Validity examines the extent to which an instrument measures what it seeks to measure. A valid research of stress measures stress scores, and avoids using other tests that are unrelated to stress.
Reliability is the ability of a measure to produce similar results under the same conditions. A reliable test of stress would attain consistent results under different tests, whilst maintaining the same testing condition throughout.
