Cards (14)

  • What are the types of diagrams
    • Circuit diagram
    • Wiring diagram
    • layout diagram
    • Block diagram
    • As fitting diagram
    • Schematic diagram
    • Site plans
  • What is a Site plan
    • A site plan is a birds eye view that is drawn to scale
    • A site plan can be an architectural plan, landscape architecture document, and a detailed engineering drawing of proposed improvements to a given lot
    • A site is a graphic representation of the arrangement of buildings, parking, drives, landscaping and any other structure that is part of a development project
  • What is a Block diagram
    • Gives basic view of the way something works
    • It contains no detail
  • What is a Circuit diagram

    • This type of diagram is designed to shows how the system works and shows how electrical components are connected together and must be clearly understood.
    • Each electrical component has its own symbol and the components are drawn to BSEN 60617 but not necessarily in their correct position.
    • In order to understand a circuit diagram is important you learn the BSEN 60617 symbols.
  • What is a schematic diagram
    • This gives a theoretical picture of a circuit
    • Components are drawn to BSEN60617 and the conductors are drawn as straight lines. This flow of energy is assumed to be from left to right and/or top tot bottom
  • what is a Location/layout diagram
    • This type of diagram shows a plan view and the physical position of the components using BSEN60617 symbols and is to scale
    • Show the position of the equipment around the instillation
    • Measurements of cable runs on the scale can be established
  • What is a As fitting drawings
    • A drawing as amended after completion of the final instillation in order to provide an accurate recording of the details of the entire instillation in their final form. Also known as As-built drawing; as-made drawing
  • What does instillation drawing contain
    • Working Drawing
    • Requisitions or material lists
    • Specification sheets or 'specs'
  • What are Working drawings
    • Working Drawings are what are worked from when anything is installed
    • They can be anything from a single pieces of paper to a folder full, covering all the drawing and diagrams that are needed for an accurate installation. They all have a common theme, they should be drawn to scale and contain BSEN 60617 symbols.
  • What are requisition or material lists

    • Requisition or materials lists contain lists of all the items that are needed in the installation
  • What are Specification sheets or 'specs'
    • Specification sheets or 'specs' give details about particular types of equipment to be installed
  • What are symbols of BSEN60617
    • The IEE Wiring Regulations require that 'diagrams, charts, tables or equivalent forms of information are made available' to the installer and inspector and tester.
    • Gives the graphical symbols that should be used in all electrical/electronic diagrams or drawings. Since the symbols fall in line with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) document 617, it should be possible to interpret non-UK diagrams
  • What is Scale plans
    • For an installation to be completed accurately there needs to plans or drawings of where everything should go
    • To draw on a piece of paper the size of a whole house or factory would clearly be silly so we draw to scale.
    • That is, we decide, how much smaller everything needs to be drawn on the paper. To retain accuracy everything obviously needs to be made smaller by the same amount
    • The most common scales in electrical installation are,
    • 1:20, 1:50, 1:100
    • You are making everything a 20th, 50th or 100th of its normal size.
  • What is a Wiring diagram

It’s a simple visual representation of the physical connections and physical layout of an electrical system, circuit or equipment
