• A good methodology write-up will ensure the validity of data to be collected and allow other researchers to replicate your experiments.
• The Process Flowchart shows the three major phases, namely, Preparation of Experimental Units, Preparation of Treatments, and Experimentation and Data Gathering
• Experimental units are any entities such as plants, animals, or inanimate objects subjected to treatments and considered as independent from all other units
• This is the entity that requires replication for experimental researches

• In technical or developmental researches, the design and construction of the device or system must fall under this phase

  Preparation of Experimental Units
• In technical or developmental researches, the product or system itself is considered as the?

  Experimental unit
• Treatment of experimental units could be in the form of biological application, chemical application or variation of physical conditions.
• In dealing with technical or developmental researches, preparation of treatment is presented as a discussion of how various evaluation or functional testing methods will be performed on the new product or system
• In the case of descriptive or observational researches where the researches have no control in treatment, the observations should be based on at least two factors which may be considered as the experimental treatments
• Actual experimentation consists of administering the treatments to the experimental units
• In technical or developmental researches, the testing and evaluation processes of the experimental unit correspond to the data gathering
• In observational researches, manipulation of variables is done only as far as choosing the factors that will constitute the variant between two or more sets of observations.
• A good process flowchart does not show two consecutive processes on the same branch
• A Process Flowchart always moves towards one direction; there should be no cyclical or decision process, thus repetitive tasks and/or decision-dependent tasks are lumped together as one activity
