  • In big establishment such hotel, the Housekeeping Department is in-charge of up keep and maintenance of all domestic concerns such as the cleanliness and set up in the guest rooms, cleanliness of the public areas, landscaping and plant maintenance.
  • Guestroom maintenance - Maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in the guest rooms. Furnishing the room with necessary equipment and supplies such as bed, linen, thermo jug, appliances and other necessary items.
  • Maintenance of Public Areas - Maintaining the cleanliness of surroundings of the hotel, designing and executing and attractive landscaping to enhance eye appeal.
  • Maintenance of Linen and Laundry Service - Pickup and delivery of guest laundry (Valet Runner). Washing, drying, ironing guest laundry as well as linen used in Banquet Functions, F&B operations and guest rooms.
  • 5S is a system and way of organizing and managing workspaces to improve efficiency by eliminating waste, improving flow and reducing process.
  • Cleaning - is the removal of dust, dirt, foreign matter, tarnish, and stains from various  surface with the aid of certain cleaning agent and equipment. Cleaning is carried out for following reasons
  • characteristics of a room attendants - KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ATTRIBUTES
  • Linen and Laundry Supervisor - Directs, leads, monitors and controls all activities covering linen and laundry service.
  • Linen Attendant - Stocks, stores and issues employees’ uniforms, linens, cleaning supplies, guestroom, and public area amenities.
  • Valet Runner - Responsible for pick up and delivery of laundry items of guests and those for house use.
  • Flatwork Ironer - Performs ironing of linen items in the flatwork machine following the standard procedures.
  • WASHER - Attends the washing and extracting, drying of all guests laundry and FOC (free of charge) items.
  • SEAMSTRESS - Performs sewing or mending of guest room linens as well as those used for banquet and food service operations.
  • Presser – for blouse, dresses, trousers and related items.
  • Hand ironer – for normal shirts.
  • Utility presser – for trousers, skirt and long dresses.
  • If the item needs no further processing, it is placed inside the pigeon box (if any) according to tag
  • Trolleys transport linens from the laundry channels and floor pantry to the laundry department
