    • Utterson and Enfield come across a strange out of place door to a neglected building on an expensive street
    • Enfield recalls Hyde trampling a girl and then entering the building to get a cheque of £100
    • the cheque is signed by 'respectable person' that Enfield does'nt disclose (it is Jekyll)
    • CHAPTER 2 - THE SEARCH FOR MR HYDE
    • Utterson finds Jekyll's will
    • the will says that all his possessions will go to Mr Hyde
    • Utterson visits Lanyon who says he has never heard of Hyde
    • Utterson waits for Hyde by the door to talk to him
    • Utterson goes to Jekyll and discovers the door leads to Jekyll's laboratory and Hyde has a key to it
    • Utterson suspects blackmail
    • CHAPTER 3- DR JEKYLL WAS QUITE AT EASE
    • Utterson talks to Jekyll
    • Jekyll refuses to reveal details of his relationship with Hyde

    • Jekyll is less negetive since Hyde's disapearance
    • Jekyll becomes depressed
    • Utterson goes to Lanyon but he is pale and sickly
    • Lanyon thinks he is going to die soon and does'nt want to discuss Jekyll as hints he has something to do with his sickness
    • Utterson writes to Jekyll but gets a reply suggesting he is 'under a dark influence'
    • Lanyon dies and leaves a letter to be opened after 'death or disappearance of Dr Henry Jekyll'
    • Jekyll is living in isolation
    • CHAPTER 7- INCIDENT AT THE WINDOW
    • Enfield and Utterson are on a walk
    • they stop to look and talk to Jekyll through the window of the strange house
    • suddenly Jekyll's face turns of 'terror and despair' and he shuts the window
    • CHAPTER 8 - THE LAST NIGHT
    • Poole comes to Utterson concerned about Jekyll
    • Poole says the voice inside the laboratory sounds like Hyde and is asking for chemicals
    • they break the door and find Hyde twitching on the floor with test tube in his hand
    • there is no trace of Jekyll
    • there is a will leaving everything to Utterson and Jekyll's confessions
    • CHAPTER 9- DR LANYON'S NARRATIVE
    • shifts narrative to Lanyon
    • Lanyon recieves a letter from Jekyll to break into a cabinet in the laboratory to get chemicals
    • Lanyon gives chemical to Hyde and sees the transformation into Jekyll
    • CHAPTER 10- HENRY JEKYLL'S FULL STATEMENT OF THE CASE
    • perspective shift to Jekyll explaining himself
    • Jekyll became scientifically curious and tried to destroy his dark side
    • he needed a potion to transform but now would do it automatically
    • Hyde took over him and destroyed him
