    • Could not help patients with deep wounds
    • Medieval procedures:
    • Bloodletting (balance humours)
    • Amputation (removing damaged part of body)
    • Trepanning (drilling hole in the skull)
    • Cauterisation (burning a wound to stop the flow of blood)
    • Barber surgeons:Would complete minor surgery on customers while cutting hair. Most were unlicensed and the surgery was very unsafe for the patient
