  • health is the state of physical and mental wellbeing. Diseases re often responsible for causing ill health
  • Communicable diseases - spread from person to person or between animals and people. Caused by things such as bacteria, viruses, parasites and fungi. They are contagious and infectious.
  • Non-communicable diseases - cannot be spread between people or animals. They generally last for a long time and get worse.
  • Types of diseases
    • people who have a problem with their immune system have an increased chance of suffering with communicable diseases
    • types of cancers can be triggered by certain viruses
    • immune system reactions in the body caused by a pathogen can sometimes trigger allergic reactions
    • mental health issues such as depression if someone is suffering with severe physical health problems
  • Other factors effecting health
    • good/balanced diet eating the right amounts
    • being under a lot of stress can lead to health issues
    • life situations - accessibility to medicines/treatments
