    Dramatic entertainment typically performed on a moonless night during a town fiesta or on dark nights after a harvest, using cut-out figures and flat objects commonly held together by sticks and threads to support and create the movement of the puppets

    A dramatic performance portraying the Passion and death of Jesus Christ, usually done during the Lenten season

    • The complexity of how the senakulo is conducted may vary from one church to another, with modernized versions that still showcase the same story line and messages usually inspired by Biblical stories from the Old and New Testaments
    • Costumes and props used are inspired by the Biblical times and intended to create a historically authentic portrayal in the performance
    • Telon, a proscenium-type stage with painted cloths or paper backdrops, is commonly used for senakulo set-ups
