  • Admission Requirements for Local Internship Training Program
    • Be a bonafide student of the university
    • Must be 18 years old from the start of the training program
    • Enrolled in an internship training program required by the institution
    • Have good academic standing and completed all pre-requisite subjects
    • Finished at least 90% of his/her academic subjects prior the internship training program. However, a student who is currently enrolled in other subjects other than the internship program must have a petition or request approved by the Dean
    • Have a notarized written consent from parents/guardians
    • Must be physically, mentally and emotionally fit
    • Must have the right work attitude towards practicum/training
    • Must have attended the Internship Training Orientation Seminar

  • Duration
    The duration of the internship program of each institution shall be based upon the approved training hours in accordance with the existing Policies, Standards and Guidelines (PSGs) of the Program
  • Guidelines on Absenteeism, Transfers and Terminations
    • Absenteeism:
    • The student-trainee should immediately notify the company supervisor when he/she could not be able to report for work
    • Attendance at the training site is of vital importance hence, unexcused absence, means no work can be made up. Your grade will be adversely affected due to this unexcused absence
    • Excessive absences from work may result in the removal from the list of intern students undergoing internship program of the university, thus forfeiting any credit
    • Transfers:
    • No student is allowed to change jobs without first notifying the university internship coordinator
    • The student may only be allowed to transfer due to following reason/s:
    • Layoff from job site for at least one (1) month or more
    • Physical ailments, illnesses, or disability
    • Severe personality conflict with supervisor or fellow employee
    • Job assignment is not related to his/her field of specialization
    • For the transfer to be completed, the student must immediately notify the internship coordinator and the company in advance
    • The student-trainee should secure a new training site before leaving one's present job
    • The student-interns should secure a clearance from the previous company before transferring to another site
    • The student-trainee should strictly follow the university procedure in preparing internship training working papers in completing a new training agreement
    • Termination:
    • If the evaluations made by the university coordinator and company supervisor indicate that the student did not meet university's best interest, such as failure to follow the rules and regulations of the program
    • Failure to notify the university internship coordinator of any changes, including termination in the job situation
    • The student received at least twice unsatisfactory grade or not receiving organized and progressive work experience
    • The student has incurred three or more absences from work or training without valid reasons and failure to notify the university Internship Coordinator
  • Monitoring and Evaluation
    • Regular monitoring and evaluation are vital for all employees particularly for interns and entry-level candidates. They need to know if they are doing good job or if something needs to change
    • Student interns are required to submit Weekly Accomplishment Report indicating their daily activities and Trainee's Monthly Log Report reflecting their actual works duly signed by an immediate supervisor and submitted to the internship coordinator of the institution
    • Site supervisor shall evaluate the interns on a bi-weekly basis on the merit of work performance, competence, work attitude, compliance to submission of reports, attendance and professionalism
    • The result of the evaluation shall be submitted to the internship coordinator who will provide the feedback to the interns and act on the matter, if any
    • Based on the consolidated evaluation conducted, the supervisor shall give the final rating to the interns and submit to the internship coordinator as basis for the final grades
  • Grading System

    • Site Supervisor: 70% (Successfully Completed the required training hours)
    • Internship Coordinator: 30% (Submit the necessary documents/ requirements (Narrative reports and others required documents) on time)
    • TOTAL: 100%
  • Problem Solving Expectations
    • If the site supervisor or the student experienced a problem during the internship, the first step is to talk with each other about it. Most common type of problems are related to job duties, relationship with co-workers or misunderstandings between supervisor and the intern
    • If the problem is not resolved in a timely manner, the Internship Coordinator should be notified as soon as possible
    • The Internship Coordinator will work in collaboration with the site supervisor and intern to resolve the problem in a professional and expedient way
  • The student intern/trainee will submit all necessary reports/documents needed for the final assessment and evaluation of the training and will also serve as the basis for the issuance of the certificate of completion. The report will be used by the university for improving its internship training program and guidelines.

    • All BPSU Students shall be covered by the BPSU Group Accident & Health Protection Program (GAHPP) managed by the University
    • The GAHPP shall be under the Office for Student Affairs in coordination with the University doctor and nurses
    • Each BPSU student shall pay an annual premium or contribution, the amount of which shall be subject to consultation with the students through the University Student Council. This amount shall form part of the student's miscellaneous fees

    • Issues and signs the intent and waiver of the intern students
