    1. Al- zahrani and Kaplowitz found differences in collectivist and individualistic cultures , e.g - Saudis show more ingroup favourtism and out group bias
    2. Guimond found that countries with pro diversity policies and high multiculturism have low prejudice

    Evidence Against-
    1. Kleugel- comparison between cultures doesnt necessarily support this idea and its extremely hard to measure
    2. RCT has cross cultural evidence suggesting it isnt the only influence on prejudice (Ember and Ember)

    Supporting evidence-
    1. Cohrs- openess to experience personality dimension is negatively assoaciated with prejudice
    2. Adorno- authoritarion personality - hostile to those they see as inferior to themselves

    Evidence Against-
    1. RCT and SIT dont account for personality suggesting its not an important factor
    2. Postmes suggested that individual characteristics create social identity not social identity that determines individual characteristics

    -Based on one person or a small group so less generalisable
    -e.g. HM - 2/3 of hippocampus removed, due to epilepsy different from a typical brain so not generalisable
    -However, allow for rich and detailed data to be gathered
    -Deeper understanding of how memory works therefore increasing effectiveness

    -Unethical to cause brain damage so allows for a unique insight
    -e.g.- HMs surgery wasnt effective but allowed for further understanding of how memory works.
    -However, can result in suvbjectivity as the researcher is spending a lot of time with the patient

    -Adorno- authoritarian personality so less likely to be obedient to someone they see as inferior to them
    -Rolter - locus of control - e.g. Milgrim and the idea of displacing responibility

    -Empathy - Burger found high empathy (protests against shocks) didn't necessarily translate to lower obedience
  • Gender affecting obedience-
    -Blass - only Killham and Mann found difference (meta-analysis)
    -Killham and Mann- found that women were less obedient (16 percent compared to 40)
