Packaging Control

• Primary packaging - holds the product and is in direct contact with it
• Secondary packaging - protects and holds the primary packaging
• Tertiary packaging - used to hold groups or stacks of cartons
• Line clearance - is a documented act of conducting any necessary removal of the product and materials from the manufacturing line to prepare the line for the next production
• Reconciliation - a comparison wherein you make due allowance for the normal variation between the amount of the product theoretically or actually produced
• Distribution - the procuring, purchasing, holding, storing, selling, supplying, importing, exporting, or movement of pharmaceutical production
• Antibiotics and Insulin - are withheld from distribution until batch certification from the FDA is actually received
• Stock card - aids in the monitoring of stocks either received or dispatched
