Diversity - It is a group of people who are different in the same place
Surface level diversity - It is diversity in the form of characteristics of individuals that are readily visible including, but not limited to, age, body size, visible disabilities, race or sex
Deep level diversity - It is diversity in characteristics that are non-observable such as attitudes, values, and beliefs, such as religion
Hidden level diversity - It is diversity in characteristics that are deep-level but may be concealed or revealed at discretion by individuals who possess them, such as sexual orientation
Stereotyping - exaggerated belief, image or distorted truth about a person or group
Biographical characteristics - Objective and easily obtained personal characteristics
Race and ethinicity - Contentious issue: differences exist but could be more culture based than race based
Tenure - People with job tenure (seniority at a job) are more productive, absent less frequently, have lower turnover, and are more satisfied.
Religion - May impact the workplace in areas of dress, grooming and scheduling
Gender identity - is each person's internal and individual experience of gender. It is a person's sense of being a woman, a man, both, neither, or anywhere along the gender spectrum
Ability - An individual’s capacity to perform the various tasks in a job
Intellectual ability - It is defined as the skills one requires to think critically, understand disciplines, and solve problems in a new or dynamic situation
Physical ability - It refers to performing physical tasks requiring stamina, strengths, and desires
Diversity management - It is important across the globe. However, different cultures will use different frameworks for handling diversity.
