    • 1973 Roe v. Wade - ruled that state law that bans abortions was unconstitutional

    • 1969 Stonewall riots - considered the start of the modern gay rights movement
    • 2015 Obergefell v. Hodges - declared that the fundamental right to marry is guaranteed to same-sex couples by the Due Process Clause and Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment
  • Disability Rights Movement - fights for the equal rights + opportunities for people with disabilities
    • Rehabilitation Act 1973 and Americans with Disabilities Act 1990 -> these laws prohibit discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life, including jobs, schools + transportation
