    1. Informative Speech – Aim/Purpose: provide and helps the audience to not only think and decide about matters that affect people generally, but also to decide what to do aboutmthem. Speech types – events, issues, object, people, process

  • Demonstrative Speech – Aim/Purpose: It aims not only to inform but also to demonstrate a step or a process.
  • Entertainment Speech – Aim/Purpose: To share goodwill, joy and pleasure to the audience. Speech types – Friendly type of conversation; casual type of conversation, yet respectful.
  • Extemporaneous Speech – Description: Speaking with limited preparation; guided by notes or guidelines; delivered conversationally Speaking Situation – class reporting ; campaigning of candidates
  • Impromptu Speech – Description: speaking without advance preparation; unrehearsed speech; spoken conversationally Speaking Situation – any occasion or event when asked to say few words; job interview
  • Manuscript Speech – Description: Speaking with advanced preparation; planned and rehearsed; reading aloud a written message/script Speaking Situation – Newscasting with a Teleprompter; presenting legal proceedings and verdict in court; reading the rules and criteria in a contest
  • Memorized Speech – Description: speaking with advanced preparation; planned and rehearsed; reciting word-for-word from memory Speaking Situation – delivering a declamation or oratorical piece; actors performing a script from memory in a scene
