Calculated statistical value and critical value

Cards (6)

  • -          in other tests the difference in the numbers is significant if the calculated statistic is equal to or grater than the critical value – found in chi square tests , spearman rho tests . Pearsons r tests and both unrelated and related t tests
  • -          for some tests the difference is significant between the two numbers if the calculated statistic is equal to or less than the critical value – found in Mann Whitney tests , Wilcoxon test and the sign test
  • -          You can use the typical and calculated value to find out if results are significant
  • -          weather York County calculated statistic is less than or greater than the critical value tells you whether the results are significant or not
    -          you can find a critical value to compare your statistic to from a table
  • -          each statistical test has its own set of critical values which always remained the same hey
  • -          once you have chosen an appropriate test you need to put data into a mathematical formula and you get a number this not number is called the calculated statistical value which is then compared to another number called the critical value
