  • First Aid
    The first and immediate assistance given to any person with either a minor or serious illness or injury, with care provided to preserve life, prevent the condition from worsening, or to promote recovery until medical services arrive
  • There are many situations that may require first aid, and many countries have regulations or guidance which specifies a minimum level of first aid provision in certain circumstances
  • First aid includes specific training or equipment to be available in the workplace or mandatory first aid training within schools
  • The Three Ps
    The primary goal of first aid is to prevent death or serious injury from worsening

    • Preserve life

    Addressing both external factors, such as moving a patient away from any cause of harm, and applying first aid techniques to prevent worsening of the condition, such as applying pressure to stop bleeding
  • Promote recovery
    First aid also involves trying to start the recovery process from the illness or injury, and in some cases might involve completing a treatment, such as in the case of applying a plaster to a small wound
  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

    • The fallback protocol, which underlies all other first aid principles. It allows the rescuer to revive a person in cardiac arrest by keeping oxygen moving to their brain until help arrives or person recovers
  • Management of choking
    • These skills allow a bystander to perform the correct techniques to clear a blocked airway. If a patient is suffering from a blockage in the upper airway he is at risk of going into respiratory arrest. Correct skills will allow you to clear the airway and allow the victim to survive
  • Management of a suspected spinal/head injury
    • Incidents that affect spine and head are always a serious matter. Understanding the principles of spinal and head injuries is essential to saving lives and to prevent causing further injury
  • Correct administration of an EpiPen or AnaPen
    • Anaphylaxis (severe allergic reaction) is a life threatening condition. Effective first aid is conducted through the administration of adrenaline via an auto injector such as the EpiPen or AnaPen
  • Management of bleeding
    • Severe bleeding can become life threatening very quickly. By learning the first aid principles of how to control bleeding one will have the knowledge of how to save a person's life
  • Management of burns
    • Burns are the most painful wounds a person can experience. Each burn degree requires a unique treatment

  • Preserve Life
    Save lives and minimize the death threats. First aid done correctly and should helps reduce the patient's level of pain and calm them down during the evaluation and treatment process
  • Physical recreation
    Involves some kind of physical activity such as running, swimming, or team sports. It typically is ideal for those looking to keep fit and have fun.
  • Walking
    • Can simply be an unorganized meander around a local park or trail for relaxation or a daily regimen of several miles that is undertaken for health benefits.
  • Hiking
    • The activity of taking long, vigorous walks in nature for fun. Hiking is a shorter, easier journey, commonly walked on looped marked trails, to-and-back, or even destination hikes.
  • Mountain climbing
    • Mountaineering, mountain climbing, or alpinism is a set of outdoor activities that involves ascending mountains.
  • Zumba
    • A fitness program that involves cardio and Latin-inspired dance. It was founded by Colombian dancer and choreographer Beto Pérez in 2001
  • Kayaking
    • It involves the use of a kayak, a narrowboat with a double-blade paddle to move on water. The driver navigates through the waterways by sitting face-forward and marching ahead with alternating side-to-side paddle strokes.
  • Mental recreation
    Involves mental exercise or activities that use much of your thinking and reasoning. It typically is ideal for those looking to exercise their minds and logical skills.
  • Crossword
    • A puzzle consisting of a grid of squares and blanks into which words crossing vertically and horizontally are written according to clues.
  • Sudoku
    • A puzzle in which several numbers are to be filled into a 9x9 grid of squares so that every row, every column, and every 3x3 box contains the numbers 1 through 9.

    • A board game for two players, called White and Black, each controlling an army of chess pieces, with the objective to checkmate the opponent's king.
  • Reading
