Organisms are adapted to live in different environmental conditions. The features or characteristics that allow them to do this are called adaptations.
Morphological adaptation
Features of an organism's body structure - such as shape or colour
Artic fox - morphological adaptations
white fur so their camouflaged against snow
to retain heat they have a thick layer of body fat and thick fur and a relatively large body mass.
Fennec fox - morphological adaptations
They live in hot places so have adaptations to loose heat:
thin layer of body fat
large ears which give them a large surface area compared to volume
Behavioural adaptations
Ways that an organism behaves
Antelope - behavioural adaptation
lives in groups. This means that there are more eyes to look out for predators, which increase chance of survival.
Birds - behavioural adaptation
migrate to warmer climates during the winter to avoid cold conditions
