Testing for simple sugars (glucose)

• Reagent:

  Benedict's solution
• Colour at the start:

  Blue
• Colour if sugar is present:

  Orange/red
• A food sample is placed in a boiling tube with some benedict's reagent. It is heated in a water bath for 5 minutes.
