• GENE - are factors that control the appearance of a trait.
LAWS OF INHERITANCE
• STATES THAT DOMINANT TRAIT ALWAYS HIDES OR PREVENTS THE EXPRESSION OF THE RECESSIVE TRAIT.• STATES THAT DOMINANT TRAIT ALWAYS HIDES OR PREVENTS THE EXPRESSION OF THE RECESSIVE TRAIT.
LAWS OF SEGREGATION
• STATES THAT DURING SEX CELL FORMATION, THE PAIR OF GENES SEPARATE OR SEGREGATE FROM EACH OTHER AND ARE TRANSMITTED TO THE OFFSPRINGS THROUGH THE EGG AND SPERM CELLS.
LAW OF INDEPENDENT ASSORTMENTOFGENES
• states that the distribution or assortment of one pair of factors is independent of the distribution of the other pair.
• GENOTYPE - refers to the genetic composition (allelic combination) of an individual.
• ALLELE - are specific forms/variants of the same gene and are responsible for the variations of the given trait.
• PHENOTYPE - is the observable trait or the expression of the genotype of an individual for a particular trait.
HETEROZYGOUS- dissimilar alleles at a particular gene locus. ( Not the same Genes Traits )
The phenotype is the set of observable physical traits
The genotype is an organism's genetic information.
HOMOZYGOUS refers to identical alleles at a particular gene locus. ( Same Genes )
Homozygous means you've inherited the same alleles of a gene from each of your parents. In contrast, Heterozygous means you've inherited different alleles of a gene from each of your parents.
