• Respect the human need for happiness and personal choice so life must be of a reasonable quality (quality of life)
• Do not see life as sacred as they do not believe in a God so it does not belong to God
• Humanist view on abortion is that it is an individual's right to choose what happens with their body
• After 24 weeks, abortions can only take place if continuing the pregnancy would cause greater harm than ending it
• They believe in the quality of life so they accept abortions as backstreet abortions cause injury misery and death
• They accept abortions because: they value freedom of choice, a woman has right over her body, (if) the pregnancy or birth may bring harm to mother, a handicapped child may have reduced quality of life
• Peter Singer says that to reduce suffering we must reduce the number of children born
• Aborting a disabled baby is justified by Peter Singer as it reduces suffering
• Singer believes that there are too many people in the world already and therefore we need to control population growth by reducing the number of babies born
